WHEN DID IT BECOME
OK TO BOMB HOSPITALS?

Hospitals and other medical facilities are protected by international law from being attacked by any of the parties in an armed conflict. Yet, these laws are flouted with impunity – there were more than 900 attacks in 2018. We, the medical community, must bring the moral power of our voices to stand up against this outrage and protect our colleagues and our patients.

THERE WERE 973 ATTACKS ON HEALTHCARE IN 2018. THAT’S 973 TOO MANY.

According to the authoritative Safeguarding Health in Conflict Coalition, in 2018 there were at least 973 attacks on health workers, health facilities, health transports, and patients in 23 countries in conflicts around the world. At least 167 health workers died and at least 710 were injured as a result of these attacks.
